The Director, Data and Decision Support owns the infrastructure layer beneath everything Veridian publishes. The mandate is straightforward and unglamorous: every figure the firm puts in front of a client should have one authoritative source, a traceable lineage, and a defined refresh cadence. In practice that means designing automated ingestion from machine-accessible public data sources; maintaining a structured indicator taxonomy across macroeconomics, energy markets, housing, and construction costs; building validation and exception handling so that a broken series surfaces immediately rather than silently; and applying business-intelligence principles to dashboard design so that a decision-maker reads the position rather than deciphering it. The role sits deliberately between the modelling team and the client-facing practices and is accountable to both.

The defining deliverable is the State of Today’s Economy dashboard, a centralized, automatically updated single source of truth consolidating global, national, provincial, and local indicators into one governed workbook. Built to eliminate data silos and the conflicting figures they produce, it gives decision-makers a validated evidence base, real-time visibility into economic conditions, and a consistent set of drivers, oil prices, interest rates, inflation, for running high, base, and low scenario cases. Its measurable effect has been to redirect analyst time from data wrangling toward analysis and advisory work, while improving the quality and timeliness of the inputs feeding every downstream forecast. The role also governs data standards, documentation, and access controls across the firm’s modelling environment.
